Hampton Roads Transit is launching a trial bus service to the Norfolk International Airport starting Sunday, February 5.

Hourly service begins at 5 a.m. and operates to 11:47 p.m.

The airport service is designated as Route 7. It runs seven days a week.

The airport route serves the arrivals and departures terminals on the hour, connecting customers via Norview Avenue and Tidewater Drive with downtown Norfolk and the Cedar Grove Transfer facility.

The airport stop is located on Arrivals Boulevard near the pedestrian bridge by baggage claim. The route leaves the airport via Norview Avenue and to Tidewater Drive for service to downtown Norfolk. It also serves the neighborhoods of Bromley, East Norview, Five Points, Green Hill Farms along Norview Avenue.

Light rail customers can catch Route 7 at the bus stop serving the Civic Plaza station on St. Pauls Boulevard.

Each trip costs $1.50, with reduced fares available for youth, seniors and persons with disabilities. For more information on fares, click here.

The service will run from Feb. 5, 2012 to March 31, 2012. After the service ends, HRT will evaluate customer interest and ridership and consider launching permanent local bus service to the airport.
